The Land Girls was an operation set up by the government to help gather food and build weapons in factories. The Group consisted of women from the south-west who wanted to help there country.

The Women's Land Army, known as the Land Girls or sometimes "The Forgotten Army", was formed in 1917. The Land Girls was reformed in 1939 during World War 2, first asking for volunteers and later by conscription with numbers reaching 80,000 by 1944. It was there job to do all the farming, building and office work whilst the men were away at war. The Land Girls helped for woman rights and after they were aloud to keep the jobs they worked in for the war.
